The fact of the matter is that many people visit hot northern parts of the country for their luxury holidays and see little or nothing by way of annoying insects. Yet other people can visit the same locations at the same time and claim to suffer serious annoyance and irritation of one sort or another due to our tiny fellow-inhabitants of this planet.

For a long time people who suffered with insects on holiday were written-off as 'whingers' or seen to be suffering from an over-imaginative disposition. In fact, medical science now knows that different individuals give off different bodily secretions and some of those can be more attractive to insects than others.

Of course, the exact specifics of where you are staying on holiday can make a difference too. A hotel located close to a marshy area or one near stagnant water might well be a lot more troubled by say mosquitoes than one closer to the coast or in a built up and well-drained area.

However, understanding these things is one thing, but what can you actually do about them?
